Burr Monroe
Restoration Ecologist

Burr Monroe received his B.S. in Wildlife Conservation with a minor in Landscape Horticulture from the University of Delaware. Monroe has since traveled to Central America, and California working on various ecological experiments and restoration projects. Monroe’s experience inspired his two main philosophies on ecosystem management. Don’t just treat the symptoms indefinitely; treat the problem for a sustainable solution. Secondly, you don’t have to battle nature. If you are observant and understand natural processes, you can use fewer chemicals and protect our water.
From 2007 to 2009 Monroe worked for Coastal Restoration Consultants, a highly respected ecological restoration consulting company in Santa Barbara, CA. Coastal Restoration Consultant’s clientele are non-profit organizations, consisting mainly of The Nature Conservancy and local land trusts. Projects for The Nature Conservancy include two large ecological restoration studies to develop protocols for habitat restoration. The first is located in the central rift valley on Santa Cruz Island, 21 miles off the coast of Santa Barbara, and the other which was managed by Monroe is located on the Santa Clara River.
From 2003 to 2006, Monroe worked as a project manager for a Delaware based environmental consulting contractor. In 2010, Tributaries was formed with the goal of providing an Aquatic and Landscape Management service that would benefit the water quality of our coastal bays.
Monroe has held a position at the Delaware Nature Society as Backyard Habitat Coordinator, serverd on the Delaware Watershed Stewardship Committee, University of Delaware Nutrient Management and Environmental Quality Committee, and is a certified Sediment and Stormwater Construction Reviewer from Delaware’s Sediment and Stormwater Management program. Monroe is a certified aquatic and landscape pesticide applicator in the States of Delaware and Maryland.
